We’re seeking new committee members for Victoria County’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility Committee. We have positions open for those with lived experience.
If you have a disability, such as speech, vision, hearing, mobility, cognitive impairment; if you work for an organization whose mandate is to serve and support those with a disability; if you identify as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community; if you identify as someone in an underserved or equity-deserving group; or if you are a person of L’nu ethnicity, are Mi’kmaq, indigenous; your perspective is important, and we would like to hear from you.
We are looking for people with lived experience who are willing to volunteer for this committee, who live or work in Victoria County. The committee meets quarterly for guided discussion around existing barriers to inclusion, sharing ideas, and making recommendations. Online participation is an option. Participants will be offered a small stipend for their time. Committee members’ privacy will be respected. The Municipality of the County of Victoria wants to be a welcoming, safe, and accessible place for everyone. To help make this happen, we have created an IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility) Plan. This plan identifies barriers and finds ways to remove them, it is guided by the IDEA Committee.
